To celebrate the 50th anniversary of A Better Chance of Andover, Phillips Academy proudly hosted astronaut, educator, and visionary Dr. Mae Jemison — the first woman of color in space.
On Friday, March 31, 2017, Dr. Mae Jemison spoke at Cochran Chapel in celebration of the 50th anniversary of A Better Chance in Andover. The first woman of color in space, Dr. Mae Jemison is at the forefront of integrating physical and social sciences with art and culture to solve problems and foster innovation. Jemison maximizes her experience as a physician, engineer, social scientist, and dancer to build global initiatives and to encourage today’s youth to consider careers in science, technology, education, and mathematics.
The free community event was funded by Phillips Academy and the Elizabeth Rogers Fund. Phillips Academy Andover has played a pivotal role in ABC of Andover's 50 year history.
